MV Year X – Nr 2240 of 28.10.2024

Orwell 1984 show with Violante Placido”/>

It debuted on October 22nd at the Quirino Theater in Rome where it will remain until November 3rd.
The new adaptation of Robert Icke e Ducan Macmillan of George Orwell’s novel 1984, a theatrical experience ready to excite for 101 minutes.

The Orwellian masterpiece, one of the most read and loved books in history, still maintains all its shocking relevance intact today, and is transformed into a truly spectacular tour de force, halfway between thriller, history
romantic, great literature and noir.

Under the guidance of the director Giancarlo Nicoletti (winner of the Franco Enriquez Award 2023) the cast is made up of Violante Placido, Ninni Bruschetta and Woody Neri together with Silvio Laviano, Brunella Platania, Salvatore Rancatore, Tommaso Paolucci, Gianluigi Rodrigues, Chiara Sacco.

1984 tells of a group of historians who, in 2050, discover the diary of comrade 6709, Winston Smith, written in 1984, the year in which the world is divided into three superstates at war with each other: Oceania, Eurasia and Eastasia. Oceania, whose capital is London, is governed by Big Brother, who sees all and knows all.
His eyes are the cameras that continuously spy into homes, his arm is the Thought Police that intervenes at the slightest suspicion.
Everything is allowed, there is no written law.
Nothing, apparently, is off limits.
Except thinking.
Except love.
Except having fun.
In short: except living, if not according to the dictates of Big Brother.
Even children have become spies and are called that; war is permanent, no matter against which enemy, and telescreens, together with video cameras, control everyone.
Winston, who has purchased a clandestine diary, is ready to put his survival at risk when he falls in love with Julia, in a world where love is forbidden.
The couple’s free thinking, their awareness of the truth of their time and the desire to preserve a grain of humanity will bring them to the brink of the abyss.

The new production of Federica Luna Vincenti for Goldenart Production wants to crystallize a new and original approach to the theatrical medium: a transversal, wide-ranging and highly ambitious project, in full correspondence with the taste and grandeur of the major international productions.

Due to its strong impact on the public, viewing is recommended for viewers over the age of 14.
