After yesterday’s speech by Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Strasbourg, described as shocking by the majority of parliamentarians, the PACE presidency canceled the working dinner with Rama for “the his audacity and insults to many “, reports BTA.
After Rama’s speech, the PACE Presidency informed the presidents of the parliamentary groups that it would cancel the dinner with the Albanian Prime Minister.
Some of the Council of Europe MPs comment that they have never experienced anything like this so far: a business dinner with a high-ranking statesman from a country being canceled.
After Rama’s speech, many parliamentarians expressed outrage at the way the Albanian prime minister spoke at the PACE. After Rama questioned the credibility of the PACE and its members, the parliamentarians retorted that such a speech had not been mentioned by the Parliamentary Assembly.
In his speech, Rama called for a revision of resolution 1782 of 2011 on the report by PACE envoy Dick Marty and rejected his allegations of trafficking in human organs during the last war in Kosovo. According to him, there is not a single piece of evidence for Marti’s claims, which also defeat allegations of crimes against civilians by the leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, who are on trial at the Special Tribunal for Kosovo at the ‘Hague.
