About 5 months after the global scandal, the Belgian health authorities have decided to return the factory that produces the famous Kinder egg.
Belgian health authorities have stopped producing the famous egg due to a salmonella contamination scandal.
A spokesperson for the Belgian Food Chain Safety Agency told AFP: “All the results of the analyzes of raw materials and finished products were in accordance with specifications and the inspection missions went well.
The factory of the world-famous Italian giant Ferrero, in the Belgian city of Arlon, had obtained permission in mid-June to resume production under certain conditions, after having been closed on 8 April after the scandal was reported. And 150 cases of salmonella have been recorded in 9 European countries.
The Belgian Food Chain Safety Agency has asked to be able to carry out periodic analyzes of the ingredients used and of the final products before they are placed on the market.
“The granting of the production license means that everything is ready to confidently resume production at the Arlon plant,” Ferrero said in a statement.
The Belgian agency stressed that the factory will be monitored over the next year.
