A 24-year-old student died in a ridiculous accident – trapped by a refrigerator in a blocked elevator of a dormitory in Burgas.
At around 12:30, the young man boarded the elevator to carry a heavy refrigerator to his room on the 11th floor. For unknown reasons, the elevator car got stuck between the ninth and tenth floors. When the elevator stopped, the student was sandwiched between the elevator wall and the refrigerator.
There are three elevators in the dormitory. The incident happened in the middle of them.
After the boy got stuck, he called for help, but without success. His fellow students called 112. With the help of elevator technicians, the door was opened and the young man’s body was removed.
The company that maintains the elevators of the student dormitories stated that they are not to blame for what happened.
“Checks and preventive maintenance have been carried out monthly. There is no reason for the accident to be due to a malfunction of the elevator. A refrigerator has been found on a lying boy. I can not give you any more information, because I do not know,” Veselina Terzieva, a representative, told BNT. of the company.
At the same time, students from the dormitory say that elevators break down very often.
An autopsy of the dead boy is yet to be performed.
