IThe mayor demands respect for the model school. That of San Michele Mondovì is an example of inclusion: the children of 20 ethnic groups live and study in the village. Not only that: it is also the school that everyone would like. Because the Municipality, investing almost a million euros in it, has recently refurbished it completely. Yet his gym was vandalized. Twice. Thus the mayor Domenico Michelotti addressed with an open letter to his fellow villagers: “It is the student house, a place that belongs to everyone: let’s respect it”.
Two episodes, both in the evening: in the first the damage was not significant. In the second yes. And to say that those responsible have not acted undisturbed since, following the report of a resident who had noticed suspicious movements around the gym, the mayor alerted the police. However, they found themselves facing a half disaster: empty fire extinguishers, ruined cabinets, damaged equipment, some smeared with urine. For this reason, the gym was declared uninhabitable pending sanitation.
Michelotti: «The two serious acts of vandalism led me to file a complaint against unknown persons. Our school has a great potential both at a structural level and for the educational offer. It is not a good sign to see a precious heritage damaged, which is a common good, of which we should all feel responsible and custodians. San Michele does not deserve this: I hope that those responsible will be brought to justice as soon as possible ».
Also because the Municipality really believes in the school: its foundations, today earthquake-proof, escape the sad primacy of Italy in safety. And then here the citizens of the world study, from the Moroccan community to the Russian, Albanian, Romanian one. The school does exactly what a civilized country should do: give citizenship and dignity to those who are left behind. At the comprehensive school the students are over a hundred divided between 5 elementary and 3 middle school classes.
