Australian Nick Kyrgios lost to Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals at Indian Wells earlier in March by 1-2. Kyrgios could not hold back his emotions when his withdrawal from the tournament was a fact.
After Kyrgios shook hands with both Nadal and the referee, he threw his racket down the hill with such force that it bounced up and almost hit a ball caller who was standing at the back edge.
– I’m human. Such things happen. It was an accident. It was not at all like Zverev, but was entirely an accident. Thankfully, I did not meet him, that was never my intention, Kyrgios said after the incident according to the news agency AFP.
ATP has now announced that Nick Kyrgios will be fined for the incident with almost 235,500 Swedish kronor.
