Post-clash on the Southern Ring Line, Sukabumi, West Java, the police guard the Bogor-Sukabumi and Cianjur-Sukabumi borders. Hundreds of people were arrested, and sharp weapons were confiscated because they were suspected of being used for further clashes.
Sukabumi Police Chief AKBP Lukman Syarif said the hundreds of people who were arrested were thought to have come from a group of one of the mass organizations that would join their friends in Sukabumi.
“For prevention efforts, there are hundreds of them from Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, Bekasi. From their hands we secure a number of sharp weapons,” said Lukman to detikcom.
Every vehicle suspected of being boarded by the CSO group was stopped and examined by the police. The Sukabumi Police also coordinated with the Sukabumi City Police.
“It’s in the Cibolang area, this is the jurisdiction of the Sukabumi City Police, we were asked for help by the Sukabumi Kota Police Chief (AKBP Sumarni) to carry out community isolation or sympathizers with one of the mass organizations intending to visit Sukabumi Kota (jurisdiction),” said Lukman.
“Currently, we have secured hundreds of people who will come to Sukabumi city, including carrying sharp weapons. Some of them have secured them to the Sukabumi City Police. It is suspected that there was a clash between the two mass organizations this afternoon so that the Sukabumi Kota Police needed a thickening of strength. Lukman appealed to all parties to exercise restraint and not be provoked by unsure information. “The appeal to the public, in this case related mass organizations, to refrain because the problem has been resolved by the police and the TNI in Sukabumi Kota. Currently we hope that there will be no further incidents so that the situation in Sukabumi Kota is conducive,” he concluded.
