However, because many countries protest. The government has started to hold marathon meetings in order to relax the provisions on the export ban. It was Japan, South Korea and the Philippines who protested the ban on coal exports from Indonesia.
Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut B. Pandjaitan revealed, tonight (10/1) there will be a number of coal ships that will be verified to be able to immediately send overseas.
“There will be a dozen ships that have been filled with coal, which have been verified tonight. Tomorrow will begin to be released,” said Luhut when met at his office, Monday (10/1).
Luhut continued, coal export activities in general will begin to be opened on Wednesday (12/1) in stages for companies that have fulfilled their Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) commitments.
However, Luhut has not specified which companies will soon receive export approval. Luhut added that in a meeting held by the government, his party also evaluated the DMO commitments of coal companies.
“We’ll still have it later, we want to see who had debts to PLN yesterday, we’ll check it out,” Luhut explained.
For this reason, Luhut ensured that if there were companies that did not fulfill their commitments, they would be subject to sanctions and fines according to the provisions.
