After the heat wave in Brazil there is an alarm about the rain

(ANSA) – RIO DE JANEIRO, MARCH 19 – While Brazil is still dealing with the tail end of the heat wave which is particularly affecting the central-southern regions of the country, the meteorology institute is already launching the next alarm, this time related to the heavy rains that will hit at least 22 of the 27 states starting from Wednesday. Hazards are reported for regions in the far north and the Amazon region, where up to 100 millimeters of rain is expected in 24 hours, and for southern regions where the total volume of rain could reach 50 millimeters in 24 hours, with winds up to 60 km/h. In the south-east, up to 80 millimeters of rain is expected, especially in the state of Minas Gerais. Due to the rains in Rio de Janeiro, where temperatures are expected to be up to 5 degrees higher than the average for the period up to Thursday, from Friday the thermometer is expected to drop by 15 degrees due to the disturbance that will bring intense storms.
