After the hack, 200 million Twitter user email addresses are on the street | Technical

The email addresses of 200 million users were stolen in a Twitter hack. They were posted by hackers on a hacking forum, says an Israeli security researcher. The hack was also reported just before Christmas, but the extent of the damage was still unclear.

Twitter has not responded to the hack since initial reports on Dec. 24. The company has been owned by billionaire Elon Musk since late October and has been regularly questioned about the hack. It is unclear what steps Twitter has taken to investigate the hack and shut down the leak.

The hack may have occurred as early as 2021. It is not known who carried out the hack.

A serious Twitter hack could arouse the suspicion of regulators in Europe and the United States. I’m already alert because Twitter under Musk may not have complied with European data protection rules and agreements with the American watchdog.
