After the exclusion of Sadio Mane.. Can Senegal replace him with another player at the World Cup in Qatar? | sports

The Senegalese national team has experienced a major shock, as the first star of the “Teranga Lions”, Sadio Mane, confirmed his absence from the squad in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in the state of Qatar.

Mane injured his right leg during Bayern Munich’s match against Werder Bremen on November 8, 2022 in the 14th round of the German championship, after which the Senegalese international left the stadium in the 20th minute.

At the time, French newspaper L’Équipe reported on Mane’s absence from the World Cup finals in Qatar, due to this injury.

Despite this, Aliou Cisse, coach of Senegal, has decided to summon Mani to the definitive list of the African champion, made up of 26 players, in the hope of his recovery, and of the possibility that the player enters the national team, starting from the second match at least.

Can Senegal replace Mané?

The Senegalese Football Federation cut doubts for sure last night, Thursday, and officially confirmed Mane’s absence from the World Cup.

After this shocking news for ‘Teranga Lions’ fans, many questions were raised about the ability of the Senegal national team to replace Mane with another player.

And according to the relevant FIFA regulations, any team can replace a player on the final list with another player, 24 hours before the date of the first match for this team.

The Senegal national team cuts the ribbon for the World Cup matches in Qatar on Monday 21 November against the Netherlands at the Al-Thumama Stadium, which means that Cisse can call up another player to replace Mane, by Sunday (the opening).

But first, the management of the Senegalese national team must present medical reports that categorically confirm Mane’s injury or illness, which prevents him from participating in the tournament, according to the regulations announced by FIFA.
