There are so many great coaches who are celebrated in every corner of the world. There is a coach who only knows how to win, who has been doing it for over thirty years and doing it everywhere, but there is only one who in a few days has celebrated two totally different titles and that is the European Championships with Spain. and the Italian Basketball Super Cup: his name is Sergio Scariolowhich has expanded its showcase.
Scariolo’s career is really of a high level. The Brescia coach won his first trophy in the 1989-1990 season when he won the Italian championship with Pesaro, he was 29 years old and in his first experience. Amazing. Then he has won trophies really all over the place, and the last one with the Spanish national team this September – he has conquered the European Championships for the fourth time.
In this incredible September the coach also led his club team to success: Virtus Bologna which after defeating Olimpia Milano in the semifinals after overtime he also beat Dinamo Sassari, who at one point seemed to have almost the match in hand.
The final was very good and pitted two high-level teams against each other. Sassari, winner of a point over Derthona, breaks in the second half and moves forward, but cannot escape. Bologna is always there, behind it, it risks being overwhelmed, but in the end it changes gear, thanks also to Belinelli that in the last quarter hero puts a triple after the other. He is not the best in the field, because the MVP of the final is the American Mickey.
After overtaking, Bologna maintains a small advantage over Sassari by coach Bucchi, who must surrender after a splendid final. In Brescia, Scariolo’s birthplace, the coach wins again. For Bologna it is the third success in the Italian Super Cup in its history – curiously Virtus won the first and last two editions, in the middle they lost eleven finals.
