After the criticism: Players can upgrade Horizon Forbidden West to PS5 for free

Sony is now turning around and saying that players who buy Horizon Forbidden West for Playstation 4 will have the opportunity to upgrade the game for free to Playstation 5, reports The Verge.

Sony recently said that those who bought the Playstation 4 version of the game would not have the option to upgrade to the Playstation 5 version for free. This is despite the fact that Sony has previously promised this.

Instead, players would need to purchase a special digital deluxe edition for around SEK 800, a collector’s edition for around SEK 2,000 or a “Regalla” edition for around SEK 2,600 to get access to both versions of the game. Something that was met with strong criticism from players.

“It’s extremely clear that the offer we made in our pre-order kickoff was completely misguided,” said Sony CEO Jim Ryan.

Sony also says that in the future they will give players the opportunity to upgrade all Playstation’s first-party games from Playstation 4 to Playstation 5 for around SEK 100. Given that the game will be released for both consoles.
