After the Corona break: Electro fans celebrate at the World Club Dome in Frankfurt | hessenschau.de

It had to be postponed twice because of the corona pandemic, and now the World Club Dome is returning to Frankfurt. 180,000 fans are expected to see stars like David Guetta and Sven Väth.

All good things come in threes – that could be the unofficial motto of the World Club Dome (WCD) this year. The “Las Vegas Edition” of the music festival for electronic music has already had to be postponed twice due to the corona pandemic. It should work out on the third attempt: over 200 DJs and 180,000 visitors are expected at the Frankfurt stadium on the Pentecost weekend.

The festival line-up includes stars such as David Guetta, Steve Aoki, Robin Schulz, Scooter and Sven Väth. This year, rappers such as Haftbefehl, Sido and Juju will also perform. They are to transform the Frankfurt Waldstadion into “the biggest club in the world” on 25 stages, as organizer Bernd Breiter put it during a tour of the grounds.

Elvis creates a Las Vegas atmosphere in Frankfurt

The party zone extends over 700,000 square meters and extends to the stadium pool, where you can celebrate at the “Pool Sessions”. But from June 3rd to 5th there will not only be dancing: For the authentic Las Vegas feeling, wedding chapels will be installed, in which Elvis look-alikes will marry couples – at least for fun.

Organizer Breiter and his agency Big City Beats don’t feel like joking when it comes to organisation: the music acts are flown in by helicopter as part of the show, and according to their own statements, around 1.8 million watts are used for the sound systems. A special truck also produces 14 tons of ice over the three days of the festival and secures the need for ice cubes. Overall, the investments amounted to “several million euros”.

The World Club Dome has been held annually in Frankfurt since 2013. There are now branches in Düsseldorf and South Korea. In 2018, before the festival, there were even celebrations in space: an event parabolic flight brought 50 people to a party in weightlessness – in a machine with which astronauts from the European space agency Esa are otherwise trained.
