Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has confirmed it is seeking to find out how Turkish chef, Nusrat, was allowed to illegally enter Lusail Stadium after the 2022 World Cup final, and he indicated that he would take the necessary steps in this regard.
A spokesman for FIFA said, in response to an inquiry by CNN in Arabic into the controversy caused by the Turkish chef entering the stadium and taking pictures with Argentine players and carrying the championship trophy: “After the review, FIFA started trying to find out how some unauthorized people entered the stadium after the ceremony.” Final at Lusail Stadium on 18 December.
The spokesman went on to say, “Appropriate internal action will be taken in this regard,” he said.
Nusrat’s sudden entrance onto the pitch and his attempt to take photos with the Argentine players as they celebrated their world title sparked controversy and questions as to why FIFA allowed him into the stadium.
Some specialists have touched a snapshot of the Turkish chef touching the world title, questioning the legality of this affair under FIFA rules.
CNN has tried reaching out to FIFA to find out the laws around touching and carrying the most expensive soccer trophy, but has yet to receive a response.
