While the Council of Mayors of Saluzzo is about to meet, even the local city policy – in Saluzzo – is active on the issue of the new single hospital, reopened by the regional councilor Luigi Genesio Icardi.

“The further investigations – explain the Lega councilors – have more than doubled the estimated cost for the accommodation of the three hospitals (foreseen by the Magni Plan: ed), thus making it costly to be applied, aggravated also by logistical difficulties.

The current Regional Council has highlighted the need to think of a site for the construction of a new hospital in the North West quadrant of the Province of Cuneo, shared with the mayors and representatives of the territory ”.

In this regard, the Lega agenda reads: “The health needs of the citizens of Saluzzo and the territorial basin of Saluzzo, which range from the alpine valleys to the plains, must be one of the main criteria in choosing the site of the new hospital. . The need is that of a health center of excellence, easily accessible even by the most disadvantaged people, tailored to the patient and with the most modern health building criteria “.

It is understood that, although it is the intention of the Region to create maximum involvement among local administrations, the competence in health matters lies exclusively with the Regional Administration of President Cirio.

A week later, that is to say yesterday, 9 February, the proposal for an agenda of Carlo Savio. The opposition counsel expands the range, starting in 2017.

In that year, it was December 12, “the then regional councilor for health Antonio Saitta, reported that ‘… resources have been identified for the single hospitals of the ASL To5 and the Vco, to complete Verduno and Valle Belbo and to strengthen Fossano, Saluzzo and Savigliano ”writes Savio.

“In the directorate plan of the northern area hospitals – he continues – the costs of interventions are detailed: 31.7 million euros in the three-year period 2018/2020 and 22.0 million euros in the following three years, to complete the interventions on the Santissima Annunziata, for a total amount of 53 million euros.

As of today, the preliminary assessments on the possibility of bringing the Santissima Annunziata Hospital in Savigliano up to standard demonstrate the initial economic underestimation with an investment currently valued at double what was expected and therefore estimated at over 100 million euros. The management plan of the northern area hospitals is therefore impassable “.

As a result of this, the current regional councilor for health, Luigi Genesio Icardi, declared that it seems appropriate to define a different strategy for the development of the territory, envisaging the construction of a new hospital unit serving the North West quadrant of the province of Cuneo ” .

“The mayor of Savigliano – adds Savio – has given the willingness to positively evaluate this hypothesis by searching within the area of ​​competence an area suitable for the construction of the new hospital, in the Vernetta area. Another hypothesis was put forward by the ‘Friends of the Santissima Annunziata di Savigliano hospital’, in the area adjacent to the current hospital. While a further indication emerged from the council group of the Saluzzese League, also in the Savigliano area, but on the south-east side between the SP 662 and the Saluzzo-Savigliano railway line ”.

“The health needs of our populations need articulated and organized responses between hospital healthcare and an enhancement of local medicine, more highlighted by the dramatic pandemic phase we are experiencing. And I agree with the observations of the mayor of Saluzzo Mauro Calderoni when the question arises about the role of the new garrison (“… quadrant hospital or new hospital of Savigliano?”), implying the uncertainty about the future of the civil hospital of Saluzzo, which in its territorial classification could still play a important role in this reorganization “.

According to Savio, “the dynamics that will lead to the new sanitary reorganization of our district are multiple and articulated”.

And, referring to the Municipal Council Regulations, the councilor asks the town assembly to “undertake to urgently prepare the establishment of a ‘Special Temporary Commission’ regarding the new configuration of the north-west area of ​​the Province regarding the health reorganization hospital and territorial, simultaneously evaluating the needs of the various territories of the Saluzzo area “.

“The regulation – he notes – provides that ‘Special Temporary Commissions’ are set up” for the purpose of carrying out cognitive investigations, of examining topics of particular interest and exceptional character and of studying plans and programs of extraordinary importance, presenting reports and proposals to the Council ” .

Finally, on the desk of President Enrico Falda, the request of Fulvio Bachiorrini and Alessandra Piano arrived.

The two ask Calderoni to “convene the council of mayors of the Saluzzo area, extended to the group leaders of the municipal council, in order to prepare a program and a proposal that finds the possible sharing of the political and institutional parts of the Saluzzo area”.

A request made following the “public debate that has begun in merit of the opportunity to create a new single hospital for the Saluzzo-Savigliano-Fossano district” and the “need for political and institutional involvement of the Saluzzo territory on this issue”.

And then again: “It is necessary to consider the unevenness of the topographical characteristics of the territory and its peculiarities, in particular the Saluzzo area, characterized by a prevalence of the foothills and mountains, by a high percentage of elderly population, and infrastructural disruptions that penalize the Saluzzo area” .
