(CNN)– Türkiye denied reports that the political office of the Hamas movement had moved to the country, in response to American warnings against the movement.
A source in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told the network CNN: “Members of the Hamas Political Bureau visit Türkiye from time to time.
The United States warned Turkey on Monday not to host Hamas leaders, saying “there can be no more business as usual” with the Palestinian armed movement.
US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said on Monday: “We have just seen the reports in the last few days that they (Hamas) have moved into Turkey. But of course, we will make it clear to the government of Turkey, as we have made clear to every country in the world, that there can be no more.”
Miller said several members of Hamas have been indicted by the United States, “and we believe they should be extradited to the United States.” Miller did not say what the United States would be willing to do. unless Türkiye expels or expels Hamas members.
