Lammer underwent multiple surgeries over six years after a motorcycle accident. His condition was so complicated that doctors and specialists told him that he would not be able to do a job that required him to be on his feet.
In 2016, Lammer went to a friend, Bernhard Tichy, to whom he said that if he did not help, he would end his life. As desperate as his appeal was, he hit the nail on the head. Tichy is a climber who has built equipment for recreational climbing activities in the past.
And finally, he managed to build a special construction for Lammer, with which the Austrian can continue his favorite role. It hangs from the kitchen ceiling, is flexible and has an adjustable seat. The C-shaped device, which is attached to the rail, allows him to move comfortably around the room and prepare food.
“It was a milestone for me, thanks to being able to enjoy life again and see a future. I knew that everything could not get better from that moment,” Lammer told Reuters, adding that he has continued his passion without major problems since that year.
In addition, the equipment that Tichy made for him allows him to strengthen his back and waist while he worked.
Lammer, who runs the Johanneskeller restaurant in Salzburg, Austria, founded Standing Ovation with Tichy. He specializes in making similar machines and, according to them, is the only one of its kind in the world.
The company, which aims to help people with health disabilities to find work on the labor market, is supported by the Austrian Ministry of Labor and Health.
He did not give up his passion even in a wheelchair. A disabled motorcyclist races with able-bodied riders
