Fallen trees have been causing train cancellations on the Breisgau S-Bahn since Thursday afternoon. A train was evacuated in Höllental. The Kaiserstuhlbahn had massive problems well into Friday.
Update Friday, 3.45 p.m .: “The storm damage between Gottenheim and Breisach has also been repaired,” said a railway spokeswoman when asked by the BZ. At 3:45 p.m., the first train is supposed to go back from Gottenheim to Breisach. As of now, all sections of the Breisgau S-Bahn are free again.
Update Friday, 11.45 a.m .: Deutsche Bahn announced that the Breisgau S-Bahn train service between Freiburg and Gottenheim has been able to resume since 11.30 a.m. The Hllentalbahn route was already opened on Friday morning. However, the section between Gottenheim and Breisach remains closed. Here near Ihringen trees fell on the track due to the storm on Thursday. The clearance work is still ongoing. There is currently a replacement bus service between Gottenheim and Breisach.
