After sniffing video and wrongly counting votes: Måneskin accused of plagiarism

Måneskin’s victory in the Eurovision Song Contest does not go unnoticed. At first, criticism was leveled at the voting system that stalled, causing many people to question the outcome. Controversy then arose after singer Damiano David, 22, raised his head to the table during the final and made a sniff, leading many people to believe he was on drugs. And now there is another dispute.

The winning song looks suspiciously like the song ‘You want it, you’ve got it’ by the Dutch group ‘The Vendettas’. “We immediately created an app group called ‘El Plagio’”, Joris Linssen (55) tells RTL Boulevard. The singer was a member of ‘The Vendettas’. “It really is incredibly similar to our song. The question now is, is it coincidence or plagiarism? Those guys weren’t born when we had this rock band, of course. But to put it in the words of Måneskin himself: ‘Rock and roll never dies’.” Feel free to judge for yourself whether it is plagiarism.
