The “Black Lives Matter” movement is more current than ever – also in Switzerland. The “Mohrenkopf” debate is not ebbing away either. The fact that both have their reasons was demonstrated in St. Gallen on Thursday. FC Zurich was a guest with the leader FCSG. And the Zurich showed a strong appearance, the men around coach Ludovic Magnin dismantled the host 4: 0. Nigerian Aiyegun Tosin scored two goals.
The FCZ striker’s first strike in the 64th minute was tantamount to 2-0. The 22-year-old should have had reason to cheer. He did that too, but was suddenly stopped – by a serious insult. In a video by a fan (from May 14th) you can hear how the Nigerian is called “Scheiss-Mohrechopf”.

Now FC St. Gallen reacts. He files criminal charges against unknown persons. Matthias Hüppi, President of FC St. Gallen, confirms this in a media release. «I am shocked and angry. We do everything and use all the means at our disposal to find the person. »
In the meantime, a video has appeared on which the insult can be clearly heard. Hüppi is confident that the fan will be found: “The chances are very good due to the corona protective measures.”
Tosin himself is cautioned
Tosin heard the insult well because only a few hundred spectators were allowed to be in the stadium. As pictures of the SRF showed, Tosin had already whistled the fans with a finger on his lips before the insult to silence the fans. This gesture brought Tosin a warning about unsporting behavior. As a result, the striker protested and knelt briefly, as former football quarterback Colin Kaepernick had done during the 2016 US national anthem, to raise awareness of the injustice against blacks in America.
The St. Gallen supporters vehemently booed Tosin for this gesture. He was also insulted as “Scheiss-N …”. The Nigerian showed how to respond to such insults and doubled in the 91st minute with his second goal.
The wizard responds
After this newspaper reported on the massive insults, Eduard Schmidt, assistant trainer at St. Gallen, spoke on Twitter. Schmidt wrote there that he was ashamed of such behavior.
