After pressure from ACM, T-Mobile to end its zero-rated data-free music service on March 31 – IT Pro – News

Hey, I thought this didn’t apply anymore. Since I have unlimited data, I personally don’t suffer from it. I really prefer net neutrality to the no data music rule. So it’s good to adjust it

That’s right: with unlimited subscriptions it wasn’t even applicable because unlimited streaming was already allowed.

The streaming offer has only been discontinued with the regular packages. T-Mobile then offered a larger data package with expanded and new subscriptions, and the data-free streaming option was no longer offered. Those bigger packs have now gotten more expensive…..

They now have a number of customers who are not contract-free with a subscription that was linked in August 2021 and still runs through August 2023 on a 24-month contract. Due to the government measure, T-Mobile can no longer comply with these packages as of April 1st. This means those customers will still have the downside of abolishing it for 3 to 4 months.

So what will happen is that customers who are already out of contract will get a letter that the service will expire and they can now upgrade or extend to a current larger data package.

For customers who are not free from the contract, the offer could be even better. At T-Mobile you can extend from 4 months before the end of your contract. This means that as of April 1, all T-Mobile customers have a contract that can be extended. T-Mobile is vigorously pushing unlimited, so there may be an offer of a few unlimited months for the price of a regular package. Or you will be set to unlimited for the old package price until the end of your contract if you renew with unlimited.

T-Mobile has waited so long with ACM that they are now causing as little damage as possible, because all customers are out of contract or can extend. It’s probably not without reason that the result is now what’s in the lobby with ACM.
