A spokesperson for the municipality of Rotterdam said on Friday that he was confident that the police unions and the participants in the police protest would keep an eye on the public order and safety of the people participating in the corona demonstration.
According to Gerrit van de Kamp, chairman of the police union ACP, it is responsible to take action at the same time as the corona protest: “We have made good agreements and taken measures. It is crucial for us that the safety of our colleagues is guaranteed.” In particular, riot police took part in the action, because they are deployed every week during the corona protests.
The police are dissatisfied with the cabinet’s attitude in the collective labor agreement negotiations. Last Friday, police unions met with a delegation from the cabinet and Minister of Justice and Security Yesilgöz. The main themes are income, capacity, safety and training, but the parties did not agree on this.
