After Pertamax, Luhut Says Pertalite and 3 Kg Gas Will Increase in July

According to Luhut Binsar, if the fuel price is kept on hold, Pertamina will collapse.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said the government would increase the price of Pertalite and LPG gas by 3 kilograms. This follows an increase in Pertamax by Rp. 3,500 per liter to Rp. 12,500 per liter starting Friday (1/4/2022).

Overall (overall) there will be (increase) in Pertamax, Pertalite, if premium has not. Also gas which is 3 kg (will rise). So gradually, April 1, later July, September, the government will do it gradually,” said Luhut when he visited the Jabodebek LRT Depot in Jatimulya, East Bekasi District, Bekasi City, West Java, Friday (1/4/2022) .

Luhut said the government would carry out a careful calculation and disseminate information regarding the planned increase. However, he did not explain further about the plan. Regarding the increase in the price of non-subsidized fuel oil (BBM) Pertamax, he explained, many countries have raised their fuel prices first.

This happened due to the scarcity of crude oil due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the scarcity of vegetable oil. The Coordinating Minister said, Indonesia is still lucky because it can manage the economy better. So that the impact of the conflict between the two countries is not too big.

According to him, the increase in the price of Pertamax which was implemented as of April 1, 2022, was carried out because the assumption of world oil prices in the APBN was very far from oil prices in the field. “If you continue to be detained, Pertamina will break down. So we have to be released,” said Luhut.
