Promise kept! After our strong performance in the Saxon state elections, the AfD parliamentary group made good on its announcement and requested a committee of inquiry to deal with the Corona injustice. The parties responsible for the injustice – from the CDU to the Greens – can no longer prevent the committee from being set up in the Saxon state parliament with a unity alliance or other chicanery and tricks. Thanks to the strong election results, the AfD, with 40 Saxon state parliament members, has the necessary number of votes to push through the committee on its own.
“We want to use the entire legislative period until 2029 to investigate the government’s serious violations of fundamental rights,” says Jörg Urban, leader of the AfD parliamentary group in the Saxon state parliament. CDU Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer will have to explain to the investigative committee “for example, why gatherings in the fresh air in Saxony were only allowed with ten people.” The AfD parliamentary group had the impression from the start that citizen protests should be suppressed here.
For millions of people in Saxony and Germany it is a very unusual experience: There is actually a party in Germany that keeps its election promises! So no one should be persuaded that voting won’t change anything. The cartel of established parties is reacting so nervously and hysterically to the AfD precisely because those responsible know very well that we are serious about political changes for our country.
