After Netflix, Amazon and Co.: Will Spotify soon be more expensive? – Business

– Spotify monthly subscription prices are increasing in some countries. Do Germans now have to pay more for music streaming?

Amazon Prime, Netflix, DAZN, Deezer: the prominent streaming platforms have all increased their subscription prices in recent months. After experts have already speculated that Spotify could also increase its prices, the time has now come in Austria.


Different subscription models

The music streaming giant has so far offered various subscription models both in Germany and in the neighboring country: one person pays 9.99 euros per month; for two accounts 12.99 per month will be debited. While families can put EUR 14.99 on the table per month – but can enjoy music with six accesses – students pay EUR 4.99.

Since August 1, music fans from the neighboring country have been paying 13.99 euros for the duo tariff. The family tariff will also be increased. From now on, families have to pay 16.99 euros – at least two euros more than before.

Europe boss is speculation right

The price increase in Austria is an indication that after the adjustments in the USA and Great Britain, prices are also likely to rise in Germany. Spotify’s European boss Michael Krause even said in January to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitungthat prices “should be much higher by now” in the wake of inflation.

According to the platform, Spotify is planning so far Techbook however, no new prices. In a statement to the technology platform, the streaming giant said: “We offer a variety of subscription models that are tailored to the needs of our users. From time to time we adjust our prices to reflect local macroeconomic factors, changing market needs and to continue offering our unparalleled service. At the moment there are no plans to change prices in Germany.”
