After Netanyahu’s ouster, Biden immediately called Bennet

WASHINGTON – President United States of America (USA), Joe Biden reportedly held talks with Naftali Bennett, shortly after he was sworn in as Israeli Prime Minister. Government formed by Bennett and opposition figure Yair Lapid, approved by Parliament Israel , yesterday, which marked the end of Benjamin Netanyahu’s regime.

The White House said in a phone call with Bennett, Biden highlighted his decades of support for the bilateral relationship and his unwavering commitment to Israel’s security, according to a White House statement.

“Biden also conveyed that his administration intends to cooperate with the Israeli government in efforts to advance peace, security and prosperity for Israel and the Palestinians,” he said, as reported by Xinhua on Monday (14/6/2021).

As is known, the new government was supported by 60 of the 120 members of Parliament, while 59 voted against the formation of the new government. The only MP to abstain was Said al-Harumi, from the pro-Palestinian United Arab List party.

The approval of the new government also ended the political stalemate in Israel. Where, it is recorded that Israel has held four general elections in the last two years, after Netanyahu has always failed to form a new government.
