After more than a year, MU also collapsed in the opponent’s cage

Leicester

Manchester United not just knocked out FA Cup. However, the unbeaten record at home to opponents in the domestic arena for more than a year has been broken.

MU face Leicester City in the quarterfinal match at King Power Stadium, Monday (22/3/2021) early morning WIB. MU is clearly more favored because of good morale after qualifying for the Europa League quarter-finals a few days ago.

Therefore, Manchester United with such a dominant record of meetings over Leicester should be able to pass their opponents easily. But, the fact is that MU has difficulty keeping pace with Leicester’s game.

Despite being 52 percent superior to ball possession, MU only made nine attempts with five on goal. Meanwhile, Leicester made five attempts on goal out of a total of 11 attempts.

Leicester took the lead through Kelechi Iheanacho in the 24th minute to maximize MU’s defensive errors, before being equalized by Mason Greenwood in the 38th minute.

In the second half, Leicester were more trengginas and made MU overwhelmed by the host’s resistance. Iheanacho’s second goal, which was interspersed with Youri Tielemans’ solo goal, made Leicester win 3-1 and qualify for the semifinals.

This defeat was the first that MU got from Leicester in its last 14 meetings, since beating 3-5 in September 2014. A result that also tarnished the sanctity of MU at home in the domestic arena for more than a year.

Before being defeated by Leicester, MU had gone through 30 away matches in all domestic competitions without defeat. The last time MU fell was when they lost 0-2 to Liverpool in January 2020 in the league.

Now MU only has the Europa League and the English League as a chance to win a trophy this season. Even though in the Premier League it is somewhat impossible because Manchester United 14 points away from Manchester City with nine games remaining.

MU oh MU …
