After more than 1,200 flight cancellations, air traffic in Dubai is getting back on track

There were many flight cancellations on Tuesday and Wednesday in particular, leaving many thousands of travelers stranded at the airport. Many flights departed again on Thursday, but often with significant delays. The problems should largely be over by Friday.

Large parts of the airport, but also the city of Dubai, were flooded on Tuesday because more rain fell within 24 hours than normally falls in an entire year. As a result, cars drifted through the streets and at least one person died in the emirate.

Initially, an employee of the Emirates Meteorological Institute (NCM) said that the rain was partly artificially generated with chemicals, but this was later denied.
