Apart from energy prices, life is still becoming significantly more expensive. If you don’t take the decreased energy prices into account, life is still 5.95 percent more expensive than a year ago. This can be seen in the graph above by the dark line: that of core inflation.
Core inflation is the figure that does not take into account the price evolution of energy products and unprocessed food. That line is still a downward trend: where core inflation was 6.55 percent last month, it has now fallen to 5.95 percent.
Meanwhile, food inflation remains high: while food inflation was 8.98 percent last month, it has fallen slightly this month to 8.22 percent. In the meantime, electricity (+1.7 percent) and especially natural gas (+10.8 percent) have become more expensive again this month than last month. Fortunately, energy inflation is now -32.90 percent compared to November 2022.
