After losing 45 kilos: Kathy Bates cried with happiness

Kathy Bates (76) spoke in an interview with “People” magazine about her weight loss over the last seven years. The US actress has lost around 45 kilograms. In mid-September, the pounds she had lost gave her an emotional moment.

Before the Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony, Bates was able to find a suitable dress for the Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony at Giorgio Armani “for the first time in a long time.” While trying on gowns, Bates and a friend “burst into tears because everything I was wearing looked amazing.” Ultimately, she chose a beaded dress. “The pictures on the red carpet were so different than any pictures I’ve ever taken on a red carpet,” says Bates, who felt “relaxed and ready.” “I knew that I felt great and that I looked great. This evening was really special.”

Kathy Bates on weight loss: ‘It was hard work’

In an interview, Bates has previously explained that health reasons are responsible for her weight loss. She told “Extra”: “I was dealing with diabetes – it runs in my family – and I really didn’t want to live with it.” The actress added: “I’m the healthiest I’ve been in years and I’m so grateful – it’s a miracle.” Discussing her weight loss method, she explained: “After eating for 20 to 30 minutes, you hear an involuntary sigh. This is a communication between your stomach and brain that tells you you’ve eaten enough… and what I discovered, is when you listen to that sigh and push the plate away for just five minutes, you realize that you are full and don’t need to eat anymore.”

She now explains to “People” that she has also completely changed her diet and no longer eats anything after 8 p.m. She lost around 36 kilos, and around 9 more kilos fell with the drug “Ozempic”, a controversial weight-loss injection. “There was a lot of talk about how I could only do this because of Ozempic,” says the actress. “But I have to make it clear to people out there that this has been hard work for me, especially during the pandemic. It’s very hard to say you’ve had enough.”

Her latest challenge is incorporating an exercise routine into her daily life: “I have a treadmill in the house, and maybe I’ll try Pilates.” She doesn’t need a trainer. “I don’t want anyone looking over my shoulder. It’s just very important for me to see this through.”
