The wave of layoffs at Migros cost 150 employees their jobs at Limmatplatz. The reason for this was a realignment. A few months later, according to the Migros job portal, over 50 positions were advertised at the headquarters in Zurich – at the Cooperative Association and the Supermarket AG.
Migros explains to the press that these positions will not be filled with employees laid off in May. «Blick» that the majority of the functions are specialized, the requirements of which are often very different. “Accordingly, these cannot always be replaced by shifts, but must be recruited,” said a spokeswoman. However, all positions are initially advertised internally for two weeks.
In addition to the number of vacancies, the topic is also striking. Many important positions are being sought in the area of sustainability. Migros denies the theory that sustainability experts are leaving Migros. “We have no indication of this,” it says. Two jobs in management positions were created as a result of the reorganization, and two more had to be filled due to natural fluctuation.
