After India, RI’s TB cases are again the second highest in the world!

Jakarta

Infectious diseases are still in the government spotlight. In addition to COVID-19, Indonesian Ministry of Health Director of Infectious Disease Prevention and Control (P2PM), Dr. Imran Pambudi, MPHM, said there are a number of other infectious diseases that are still quite a big problem in RI due to their high mortality rate. One of these diseases is tuberculosis or tuberculosis.

“The incidence of tuberculosis in Indonesia is now increasing, from 824 thousand cases in 2020, 2021 to 969 thousand cases per year. And Indonesia again ranked second after India in the number of tuberculosis cases,” he said during the webinar, Saturday (12/11/2019).2022.

In addition to tuberculosis, Imran revealed that the infectious disease dengue fever has recently dogged Indonesia. This is because this disease often appears during the rainy season, the current weather conditions in Indonesia.

“Then the hepatitis problem, that is also a problem. There is hepatitis A, B and C, when it comes to hygiene it is hepatitis A that usually people turn yellow. For hepatitis B and C , it doesn’t make yellow but it causes cirrhosis or heart cancer,” he said again.

Likewise with malaria which is also felt in a number of eastern regions. Imran said that until now malaria still had to be managed.

“So the prevalence of the diseases is not as high as other diseases, such as leprosy, leptospirosis, which is now associated with acute kidney injury (AKI),” he continued.

Therefore, he called on the public to continue implementing a clean and healthy lifestyle (PHBS) in order to prevent the risk of transmission of a number of diseases.
