On Wednesday afternoon, a Fiat Scudo van was driving on the 87 road from Kőszeg in the direction of Szombathely, when the vehicle suddenly wanted to turn left onto a small side road on the border of Lukácsháza. The driver managed to steer the vehicle next to the road, which therefore slipped off the bridge over the roadside ditch and then rolled to the right, writes sonline.hu.
They witnessed the accident and immediately stopped providing assistance. But the Fiat driver climbed out of the car on his side and then ran down a dirt road. One of the eyewitnesses ran after him, but lost sight of him in a bushy part, so he went back to the scene of the accident.
Shortly afterwards, another car stopped there, and after being told that the driver had run away, he headed for Kőszeg and thought he would discover a human figure on one of the light poles a few hundred meters from the road.
It turned out that a Fiat driver had hung himself on a pylon at a height of about three meters, nearly a kilometer from the scene of the accident. The life of a man in his forties could no longer be saved.
Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the case.
