Davy Klaassen openly expressed his support for Brian Brobbey on Sunday after the match between Ajax and Heracles Almelo. According to the experienced midfielder, the referees are not protecting the physically strong striker.

Ajax almost beat Heracles on Sunday in a very entertaining scene: 3-4. For Brobbey, however, the evening will have an unpleasant taste. The leader of the attack, who started the match and had not yet scored in the Eredivisie, missed a big chance early on.

After an hour of play, the striker was relieved by Wout Weghorst, a colleague and competitor, who showed in half an hour that he has no scoring ability. The substitute quickly went against his own team and later scored and converted a penalty to decide the game.

Klaassen is asked afterwards if he, as one of the experienced players, had already spoken to Brobbey about his difficult start to the season. “Yes, you talk to everyone,” replied the maker of the 1-1, who then immediately made a critical note regarding the arrangement.

“But I also think that he is not protected by the referee today (Sunday, ed.) and I think that he is not getting enough information,” Klaassen concludes strongly. “Now and again they hang on his shirt and then they say (the referees, ed.): it also holds.”

The expert does not want to go deeper into the subject. He fears a suspension, which Petet Bosz successfully challenged recently after comments on Danny Makkelie. “I’m not going to say too much about it, because then I’ll get the disciplinary committee after me,” Klaassen laughed.

“But I think Brian is being treated unfairly,” concluded Klaassen, who will not play on Thursday when Ajax take on Qarabag in the Europa League. The midfielder is not eligible to play in a European context. Willem II is the next Eredivisie opponent and Klaassen will be present again.
