Head of Bamus Betawi Riano P Ahmad officially joined the Party NasDem after leaving the PPP. By joining Riano as a NasDem cadre, he hopes that the polarization during the 2017 Pilkada contest will not be repeated again.
“I determined my political stance on joining the NasDem Party to coincide with the momentum of the Isra’ Miraj. Hopefully this step will be blessed by Allah SWT,” said Riano in a written statement, Sunday (19/2/2023).
Riano said he was interested in the spirit of change promoted by the Ketum NasDem Surya Paloh. Besides that, Riano assessed NasDem consistently guarding the idea of change in Indonesia’s restoration.
“This is also in line with the needs of the social conditions of the people of Jakarta, the impact of the 2017 DKI Pilkada,” he said.
Riano then highlighted the sharp polarization of the impact of the 2017 DKI Pilkada. At that time, it was as if the people of Jakarta were divided into two opposing poles. According to Riano, this condition must be avoided.
“In my opinion this should no longer happen in the upcoming 2024 elections. Differences in political views should no longer undermine brotherhood among the nation’s children,” he explained.
The former DKI DPRD Member also assessed the Party NasDem under the command of Surya Paloh was not trapped in the personality of one of the figures like the 2017 Pilkada. Even though NasDem is now under President Joko Widodo’s government.
“Well, I see Mr. Surya Paloh offering that. Even though currently, NasDem is in President Jokowi’s government but also offers changes for the better through the nomination of Mr. Anies Baswedan. This is proof that NasDem politics is not stuck on personal Ahok or Anies like the 2017 DKI Pilkada ,” he said.
“So, let’s restore our spirit of brotherhood and diversity, which was torn apart, and God willing, the 2024 elections will be the gateway to that recovery,” he continued.
He also expressed his gratitude to Surya Paloh and the Head of the DKI Jakarta DPW NasDem, Nurcahyo Anggorojati, who allowed him and the son of the late Haji Lulung, Guruh Tirta Lunggana to become the big family of the NasDem Party. He is also committed to increasing the votes acquired by the NasDem Party in DKI Jakarta in the upcoming 2024 elections.
“Thank you for accepting us both. I convey my commitment to work hard to help raise NasDem votes throughout the Capital region in the upcoming 2024 elections,” he explained.
He also plans to run again as a Legislative Candidate (Caleg) in the upcoming 2024 Pileg. From the electoral district (Dapil) 1, Central Jakarta.
