More than 600 people gathered in central Grenoble last night following France’s defeat by Argentina in the World Cup final in Qatar. Clashes broke out between fans and police resulting in injuries, particularly from firefighters and police.

They didn’t win… It’s still. Hundreds of fans, almost 600, gathered in the streets of Grenoble last night after the defeat against France on penalties, against Argentina, in the final of the FIFA World Cup. Horns, firecrackers and fireworks… ont exploded in the capital of the Alps.

The Isère firefighters have been called on numerous occasions, almost 80 times, to intervene in a fire in a rubbish bin, in a car or in street furniture.

As a result of these surgeries, minor injuries were unfortunately targeted by bottles and other projectiles: two people from the CRS and one person from the fire brigade. According to the Isère police, several vehicles were hit by stones and mortars.

In Isère the police did not intervene. On several occasions they used grenades and tear gas to disperse the crowd, calm returned to the streets of Grenoble around 21h30 this Sunday evening.

Clashes broke out in other cities such as Paris, Nice and Lyon, in total, nearly 227 people were arrested in France.
