The boss United States of America (United States) e German announced an agreement for the delivery of armored fighting vehicles to Ukraine that the Russians continued to invade. This handover plan is part of Western countries’ efforts to ramp up military support to help Kiev fight off the invasion Russia.
As reported Reuterson Friday (6/1/2023), the delivery of the combat vehicles was announced in a joint statement released on Thursday (5/1) local time, after the president Joe Biden and Chancellor Olaf Scholz talk on the phone.
The statement said that the United States would send the Bradley infantry fighting vehicle, while Germany would send the Marder infantry fighting vehicle.
US officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Reuters the US weapons package will include about 50 Bradley fighting vehicles, which are part of a total of $2.8 billion in security assistance.
The latest US aid package is expected to be announced on Friday (5/1) local time.
“Now the war in Ukraine is at a critical juncture,” Biden said in a statement to local reporters.
“We must do everything possible to help Ukraine against Russian aggression,” he stressed.
The joint statement also said that the United States and Germany have agreed to train Ukrainian troops on how to operate the combat vehicles. It was also claimed that Germany would supply Patriot air defense batteries to Ukraine.
