New Delhi: The capital will set the stage for Australia’s arrival in India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy early next year. Other matches will be held in Ahmedabad, Dharamshala and Nagpur/Chennai. The series against Australia is crucial as India’s last chance in the World Test Championship. Looking at the current line-up, India can only play in the Test Championship Final if they win all four Tests and sweep the series.
At least the Border-Gavaskar series, which currently consists of four Tests, will be increased to five matches from 2024.
Delhi was the last test venue in 2017. According to the BCCI method, Delhi was supposed to break even in the previous years as well but it got delayed due to the Covid.
The final decision on dates and locations for the series will be made shortly.
