Magdeburg – SV Darmstadt 98 let their new coach Markus Anfang tremble a lot during their competitive debut.

The second division soccer team won 3: 2 (2: 2, 0: 2) after extra time at the third division 1. FC Magdeburg in the first round of the DFB Cup. Tobias Müller scored the early hosts lead with a header after 14 minutes, which captain Christian Beck (26th) extended.

After the change, Marvin Mehlem (53rd) and Tobias Kempe (66th) equalized with a brilliant 20-meter shot. In the extension it was the substitute Mathias Honsak (100th) who turned the game and decided for Darmstadt. Magdeburg was celebrated by the maximum of 5000 spectators for the courageous performance.

For a long time, Darmstadt found hardly any means against the poisonous, but also cleverly acting hosts. There was no compelling chance in the first half. That changed after the break, when the Hessians worked harder and earned the equalizer and later the victory.
