The police are now also using photos to search for a suspect in the explosion at a clothing store in downtown Cologne. The images come from a surveillance camera in Cologne Central Station, investigators announced on Friday. It has now been established that the wanted man boarded a S-Bahn line 6 in the direction of Düsseldorf after his alleged crime and fleeing the scene. There are more pictures of the suspect on the wanted persons portal.
The explosion occurred early on Wednesday morning at around 5 a.m. in Cologne’s Ehrenstrasse, a popular shopping street. According to investigators, the window of a clothing store was smashed and an incendiary device was set off. This was the second explosion in Cologne’s city center within a short period of time.
The crime scene was only a few hundred meters from the place where an incendiary device exploded in front of a nightclub on Monday morning. In this case too, the police had published pictures of a suspect in order to find him. He has not yet been caught.
Police and prosecutors suspect disputes between criminal gangs as the background to the recent series of explosions in Cologne.
