After the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, confirmed, on Sunday, that the military campaign in Ukraine Following a “positive dynamic”, following the announcement of the control of the city of Solidar, stressing that it is on the right track, another Russian confirmation came.

The head of the Russian Duma Committee on International Affairs, Leonid Slutsky, stressed that the West does not seek a settlement in Ukraine, pointing out that his country has achieved a lot and will continue to achieve all the goals of its military operation, including ending the “failed Western hegemony,” he said.

He believed that Western countries do not seek a settlement in Ukraine, citing the Western military aid that reaches Kyiv continuously.

The Russian official’s words came in response to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who had announced earlier Sunday that normalization with Russia after the end of the crisis in Ukraine is out of the question.

Stoltenberg added that Western countries would send new shipments of heavy weapons to Ukraine.

He also considered that, regardless of how the Ukrainian crisis ends, it must be said that “the security situation in Europe has completely changed.”

More help

It is noteworthy that the tension between Western countries and Russia had reached the highest levels during the past year, after Russia launched its military operation in Ukraine in February.

The European Union and NATO have reaffirmed their support to Ukraine to strengthen its defences, and to intensify cooperation between Europe and the US-led alliance.

The alliance also recently guaranteed an increase in the flow of weapons to Kyiv, announcing that operations in Ukraine had reached a decisive stage in the war.

He considered it important to provide Ukraine with the weapons it needed “to win”.

Last week, France, Germany and the United States pledged to provide Ukraine with armored vehicles for infantry transport or reconnaissance: 40 German Marder armored vehicles, 50 American Bradley armored vehicles, and a number of French MX-10 armored vehicles.

On Saturday, the United Kingdom pledged to send 14 Challenger 2 heavy tanks to Ukraine in the coming weeks.

This came after Russia’s control of the strategic city of Solidar, which turned the scales somewhat, especially since it was an opportunity for its forces to advance towards Bakhmut and get closer to Kramatorsk and Slaviansk.
