The Minister of Health, José Manuel Matheu, confirmed that the second booster dose or fourth vaccine against COVID-19 will begin to be applied to people over 60 years of age, with underlying diseases, after the Easter holidays.
This day began the application of the booster dose to health personnel who have served on the front line against the pandemic.
The previous week, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved access to a fourth dose of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for people over 50 years of age.
The official explained that in Honduras the second booster dose will be applied to those who already received the first booster four months ago.
In that order, he reiterated that older adults and those suffering from immune diseases aged 12 or older will receive the drug after Easter, that is, Monday, April 18.
The first thing is the personnel who fight on the front line and the programming continues according to the condition of vulnerability, said the Minister of Health.
The head of the Ministry of Health announced that all journalists will be included in the front line since, due to their work, they must visit hospitals and areas at high risk of contagion from the virus.
Regarding the vaccine reserve, he said that they have all the ones that are used for this new stage and new batches of medicine are expected, both purchased and donated by friendly countries.
