Channing Tatum has wanted to play a certain role for ten years. His big dream of a “Gambit” solo film remains.

Will Channing Tatum (44) ever get his own “Gambit” film? The Hollywood star and fiancé of Zoë Kravitz (35) has wanted to get his own solo film as a card-throwing mutant for ten years. In the recently released “Deadpool & Wolverine”, Tatum was able to portray the character on the big screen for the first time. At an event in Hollywood asked by industry magazine “Variety”whether he now wanted his own “Gambit” film, he replied: “I very much hope so.”

Channing Tatum worked on his dream project for five years

Tatum embodies the mutant in some scenes of the latest Marvel film “Deadpool & Wolverine”. But long before that, he wanted a cinematic appearance around the character. Tatum signed on for the project back in 2014, but various directors such as Doug Liman (59) or “Pirates of the Caribbean” maker Gore Verbinski (60) came and went, and when Disney finally bought 21st Century Fox, the project was officially dead in 2019.

Now Tatum has already told Marvel and Disney officials, who now hold the rights to the character, that he wants another solo film. “Of course I said it. I’ve been saying I want it for 10 years,” Tatum explained, adding: “It’s in the hands of Bob Iger and Kevin Feige. I pray to God.”

Tatum’s statements came on the sidelines of the premiere of his new film “Blink Twice”, which was directed by his partner Kravitz. In the film, he plays a tech billionaire who flies to a private island with friends and a number of beautiful women. But there, events take a shocking turn after the group has consumed drugs and alcohol for hours. The thriller opens in cinemas in Germany on August 22nd.
