After confinement and strikes, Ile-de-France executives dream of going green

If the transport strike and confinement made it possible to generalize teleworking, it also multiplied the desire of Ile-de-France executives to leave Paris, according to a study by the specialized site Cadremploi published on Tuesday.

For 84% of executives questioned, recent events (transport strike, confinement) have reinforced their desire to leave Paris. Almost a third of them (32%) are actively looking for a position or have requested a transfer.

“The decision-making remains difficult to cross”

Among the 1,919 executives surveyed online from July 16 to 17, 2020, 96% live or work in the Paris region. 83% of them are considering mobility in the regions, a fairly stable proportion from year to year (84% in 2018, 82% in 2019). As always, if many of them express their desire to leave the City of Light, the course between reflection and decision-making remains difficult to cross, ”notes the study. Pragmatic, executives fear for 66% of them “not to find a job” if they leave the Paris region.

They are still 28% to “actively seek a position and pass interviews”, up 2 points on the previous annual survey. 4% have requested a transfer to their company (+1 point) and 60% are “thinking” (+6 points). To achieve their dream of mobility, 61% of Ile-de-France executives are “ready to change jobs” or to accept a reduction in salary (53%).

Bordeaux, Nantes and Lyon in the lead

If the option of resignation is on the decline (46%, down 6 points compared to 2019), the one consisting of going back and forth to Paris is up significantly by 7 points, perhaps facilitated by the boom in teleworking during confinement. Among the dream destinations, the top three Bordeaux (51%), Nantes (44%) and Lyon (31%) are still in the lead, followed by Montpellier, Aix-Marseille, Toulouse and Rennes.

The main motivation at the start is the search for a better living environment for 89% of these executives, while Paris is criticized for its “stressful” life (63%), the cost of living (57%) and the times. transport (48%).

They left Paris for the provinces, then returned: “We did not succeed in integrating”
