As a precaution, Interior Senator Iris Spranger (60, SPD) has already ordered the card. The scarce and expensive raw material should not lead to the next mega-collapse of the elections in Berlin.

And from October the capital will also have a new civil servant: Stephan Bröchler (59), professor of administration and law.
After the partial elections on September 26, 2021 with missing ballots and late ticks after 6pm, Berlin wants to be better prepared. Because already in the spring the most affected constituencies may have to be voted again.
How will it get better in the future?
► Berlin will have a state electoral office (seven positions), which will centrally train the voting operators and procure the ballot papers.
► There should be three to four booths in a polling station – more recently there were only two, which has led to queues.
► Ballot papers will be delivered the day BEFORE the election: a logistics company could take care of them.
The new head of the elections says: “Citizens must regain confidence in the elections”.
