After being voted out of office, Trump threatens to be charged

Donald Trump’s lawyers won’t run out of work anytime soon. The President has probably less to fear from offenses during his tenure in the White House than from his machinations in New York’s Trump Tower.

The Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan is probably the most famous property of the President. Until his election he lived in the penthouse on the top two floors.

One reason why Donald Trump clings to the presidency is likely to be the legal hardship that threatens him as ex-president. While he may be able to take precautions against punishment for his federal law violations by preventively pardoning and immunizing himself and his allies, lower-level indictments against Trump and the Trump Organization are quite possible. Instead of, for example, obstruction of justice in connection with the investigation into Russia, the incumbent president could be prosecuted for a crime such as financial fraud at the state level.
