Re-elected President of Fluminense for the next three years, between 2023 and 2025, Mario Bittencourt announced in his speech shortly after the victory the renewal of coach Fernando Diniz’s contract, which will continue at the Tricolore next season.
– I just spoke to Fernando Diniz and I can confirm the renewal of the contract. You will stay with us for another two years. It was already formulated. I had already put the terms in the contract. But he preferred to wait for the elections. It was agreed that if he won, he would continue to work with us. He is renewed for another two years – confirmed Mário.
Diniz extended his contract until the end of 2024. The previous contract was valid until the end of that year, but the coach was already under contract and had the renewal brought forward in case of Mário’s re-election. Which was confirmed this Saturday.
Hired in April following the departure of Abel Braga, Diniz had a contract with Fluminense until the end of 2022. Success rate of 65.11% after 44 games: 25 wins, nine draws and nine losses. 83 goals scored and 46 conceded. See the final result of the election:
