The Trier police are now also using videos to search for an unknown cyclist. He is said to have attacked at least one pedestrian in Trier.
The police assume that the photo and video recordings show the man who attacked a 20-year-old pedestrian in downtown Trier on the night of February 15.
According to the police, the man was walking in the pedestrian zone around 12:10 a.m. when he was attacked in the Brotstraße area near a drugstore. The cyclist approached the 20-year-old from behind and threw a cobblestone against his head.
The man was then seriously injured. The cyclist fled in the direction of the cattle market.
Another attack on the Roman bridge
According to the police, there was a similar case on Thursday evening, February 23. A cyclist attacked a pedestrian on the Roman bridge with a hard object and then fled.
The 56-year-old man was injured in the attack on the head, but was able to call the emergency services himself. The object with which he was injured is not yet known.
The victim described the perpetrator as a dark-clad man of normal build. He was wearing a hood and had a white logo on his back and was riding a dark-colored mountain bike.
Police are checking the connection between the crimes
According to the police, they are currently checking whether the perpetrator is the same person who seriously injured the pedestrian on Brotstrasse on the night of February 15, 2023.
Two other cases of attacks by a cyclist on pedestrians in Trier-Süd are also being examined by investigators for a connection. Police are asking people who recognize the cyclist in the photos or videos to to call 0651-9779-2290.
