Critics complained that the building changed the image of the street significantly. There was talk of large elements that destroyed newly created green areas including trees. The non-profit housing cooperative (GWG) encountered resistance when she submitted a building application last April for eight new bike shelters and a shed along Eisweiherstrasse. Now it becomes clear: The GWG has withdrawn its project, the planned shelters will not be built.
Previously, seven residents had filed an appeal against the building permit. A representative who does not want to read her name in the newspaper says that she was bothered by the size and conciseness of the shelters. 12.5 meter long and 4 meter deep open shelters with steel supports at the head of the rows of houses were planned in accordance with the planning application. They should have provided space for 288 bicycles and trailers.
